2024 Jaguar F-Type convertible review: The art of saying goodbye
As Jaguar looks forward to an electric future, the 2024 Jaguar F-Type offers a final, roaring celebration of what made it an icon.
The 2024 Jaguar F-Type Convertible marks the swan song of Jaguar’s iconic, audaciously stylish two-seater coupe as the brand gears up for its all-electric future. Almost a decade old, the F-Type embodied the spirit of a classic British roadster, pumping adrenaline with its relentless V8 and a body that flows like liquid metal.
Fittingly, the last breed equips a 575-hp 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that’s built for speed and drama. While the speed thrills, the interior doesn’t lag behind thanks to supple, high-quality leather finishes. Outside, the topless is simply stunning, complementing the feline-inspired, cyberpunk-ey curves.
Roaring to the finish line
Under the hood resides a beating heart that most will surely miss, a 5.0-liter supercharged V8. In its most powerful spec (the F-Type R75), the Jaguar commands 575 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, channeled to all four wheels via an 8-speed auto that – while not Porsche’s PDK-fast – offers quick and precise shifts, especially in Dynamic mode.
Acceleration-wise, the range-topping R75 AWD leaps to 60 mph in roughly 3.4 seconds. Keep at it and the R75 surges to a wind-in-your-hair 186-mph top speed that’s accompanied by the sweet, supercharged whine.
However, it’s not just brute speed though. Underneath the flowing lines, the F-type is a surprisingly capable handler. Tune in the ‘Dynamic Mode’, and the steering feels weightier and more connected to the asphalt, which – given the F-Type’s lightweight aluminum underpinnings – makes for a planted and poised feel.
